New Civil Courthouse Initiative
YOUR COURT NEEDS YOU.
The Eleventh Judicial Circuit is in dire need for a new civil courthouse. Not only is the existing civil courthouse in a state of great disrepair requiring over $25,000,000 in emergency repairs to date, but it has been outgrown by the number of staff housed there and the number of visitors it receives. On November 4, 2014, the citizens of Miami Dade will vote on whether to issue a bond to assist with the costs of building the new courthouse.
The Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association fully supports the initiatives aimed at informing voters of the critical problems facing the 1925 courthouse, what must be done to save it (and continue to use it in the short term), and the plan to construct a new civil courthouse in Downtown Miami.
